Recent Taka

the beginning of January, 2009
Recently, after National Championships, Takahiko is really busy. First of all, there were ice shows at the beginning of January for five days. And the last day was the hardest day for him.
January 12 was the Coming of Age Day. On that day he had to participate in Stars on ice in Osaka, so in the morning he returned to his hometown Nagoya, held the ceremony and came back to Osaka for Stars. This weekend he also have two more ice shows, Stars on ice in Tokyo.
About New year's holiday. He had only one day off on 1st January and already started his training next day. I've heard that he enjoyed bowling with friends, went shopping and bought new suits for the Coming of Age ceremony. He looked striking in Prada.
In the interviews he repeats that he would like to participate in Vancouver Winter Olympic and for that he is aiming at 3 spots at the World Championships in L.A.
I just hope his dream will come true and I'm sure it will come.

Chubu Regionals

on September 26-28, 2008
Every year Takahiko's new season starts with this competition. Taka skated to his new long program Romeo in public for the first time though he had already skated to his short program Take Five at the show in July.
Taka scored 82.50 at 1st place after the short program and also finished 1st overall after free skating with total score of 224.40. He tried quadruple jump several times during the official practice and successfully landed ! In the beginning of the long program he tried 4T but stepped out. Actually it was downgraded after all. And the next jump was 3A-3T though the second jump was also stepped out. Actually I felt he was a little tempered but after these two small mistakes everything went perfect except for 3S failed into 2S.
Around the summer Taka talked about the long program, "I'll try 3A at the really hard point." I was sure that he must try 3A twice, and in fact the second 3A was around 4 minute in the program, it was the second one from the last. And he finished his beautiful program with deeper edge eagle which shows love to Juliet. When I saw this beautiful ending, tears welled up in my eyes.
Taka talked about Romeo that at the beginning Romeo didn't matter about love but around the end of step he saw Juliet and fell into love with her. Oh, please don't miss the sign which shows the moment when Taka met Juliet, pay attention to moving his hand which touches the face of Juliet and also makes the shape of heart. So romantic choreography, isn't it ?
I'd like to mention about his costume. Though you can say it's too simple, that's the idea of Yuka Sato, the choreographer, recently most of the skaters wear too decorated costumes so on the contrary simple one can be remarkable.
Anyway I'm sweet on his new long program Romeo, it's so beautiful, tender, sweet and technically high-leveled. Through the new programs we can see Taka made great progress in the expression.
After the competition Taka talked about 4T and really sorry about it, it was really closed to success, and he promised to land 4T in the competition within this season.
I'm sure he can do it !
